Who Shit in My Lungs?

Date January 7, 2001

If I don’t get better soon, this is going to be an illness journal. I’ve had a touch of stomach flu along with my bronchitis for the past couple of days, courtesy of my friend’s sister Melissa. I think I’ve kicked that with the help of 5-6 liters of water a day. My lungs are not being as cooperative.

I really hate being sick.

I’ve missed three days of work now. I’m not complaining too much about that part.

I think the bad part of being sick is that I’ve spent my days watching daytime TV. This was far more brutal than I ever imagined. Especially watching The View. That was an absolutely soul sucking experience. Although, yes, it was strangely entertaining. It was very much the same feeling I get after watching professional wrestling. Dirty, dirty me.

I also caught a few bits of The Naked Chef on The Food Network. It’s no Iron Chef, but it’s a pretty fun show. The recipes themselves aren’t particularly interesting, but the show has good presentation and a reasonably charismatic host going for it. I do like the fact that Jaime Oliver’s shows usually revolve around entertaining a few guests coming over for dinner. That’s a more likely scenario for me cooking than anything else on Food network. Most of the other shows have recipes that are far too involved for feeding more than two or three people.

Final Verdict for The Naked Chef: Not quite TiVo worthy. Yet.

Thanks to pyramaniac Matt Haughey for tipping me off to the whole free TiVo thing a couple of months ago.

OK, while writing this entry I stumbled across the People’s Choice Awards on TV. I know the Oscars consistently award the wrong films and actors, but is this really the answer?

I think tomorrow I will do something more productive than watch TV. Is there anything productive that doesn’t require me to leave the house? Besides the internet. I have to lay off that too.
