Jungle Fever w/Dancing

Date January 17, 2001

Ooooh. I thought I finally kicked my bronchitis but one day of no water and all caffeine seems to have brought back my dry hacking cough. I’m up rehydrating myself now, and I think I’ll be fine. I came back fairly late from watching Save The Last Dance. Sadly, this movie was worse than I thought it would be. I didn’t really have high expectations, but I think I had different expectations. It was considerably more melodramatic and sugary than I imagined. I was hoping for something more fun and energetic than this. Specifically, there’s not enough dancing. I’m not some sort of dance fiend or anything, but I think movies like this (ones where the people in it are very good at one particular thing) should showcase their main topic a lot more. Maybe that’s just me. I look forward to Julia Stiles’ next project still, but this was a pretty big letdown after 10 Things I Hate About You, one of the smarter teen comedies of recent vintage.
