The X is for Way Worse than I Thought

Date February 5, 2001

Woof. Boy did the XFL stink. I caught some of it on TV at the bar Saturday night, and it looked like pickup league with better looking uniforms. I thought a lot of the ideas were good, but the players were so clearly out of shape and/or practice. It’s one thing that it’s not as good as the NFL, but for it to look like a bad high school game really hurts it.

I actually spent Saturday at the Hamilton Gregg Brewworks, a spot in Hermosa where you can brew your own beer. This is the fourth time I’ve done it, and it’s still a blast. For a little over a hundred bucks you get 44, 22oz bottles of your own beer. Brewing day is really laid back and fun, brewing while drinking. Alas, the beer is no longer free for the brewers but you can buy pints for relatively cheap. I can’t wait to go back in a couple of weeks and bottle it up and bring it home.

Sunday, I helped a friend furnish his new apartment by making an IKEA run. What a great place to fill your apartment with cheap furniture. It’s pretty amazing what they’ve been able to do with compressed particle board. It’ll all fall apart in three years, but until then it should do fine.

In the strangest turn of events, I’ve found myself highly susceptible to paper cuts. I’ve no idea how this happened, but I’ve gotten four or five paper cuts over the past few weeks. I haven’t even been handling paper or anything.

They call me Mr. Glass.
