User, I Barely Know Her

Date March 4, 2001

So I picked up the first two issues of User today, by Devin Grayson. I’ve never been a huge fan of Grayson, but I liked the concept and I thought I’d give it a shot. In a nutshell: Meg Chancellor lives a crap life and suddenly gets into online roleplaying (in this book it seems like more of a MUD than a modern thing like Everquest) and gets so immersed in it she starts losing touch with her real life.

The story isn’t actually good, but the art is tremendous. John Bolton and Sean Phillips have a great painted style that works very well for the book. The scenes in the cyberworld are particularly good.
