Dirty Old Town

Date December 15, 2003

This is pretty old news, but it hasn’t gotten a lot of pub, particularly here at TED LEO CENTRAL, so I figured I’d better broadcast it for posterity. From Plexifilm:

Filmmaker Justin Mitchell, director of SONGS FOR CASSAVETES, is busy editing DIRTY OLD TOWN, the forthcoming Plexi concert doc on TED LEO/PHARMACISTS (pictured above), which will premiere in Spring ’04. It’s the first in a series of indie band concert docs we’ll be producing in order to re-invent the cliched, bloated medium of the concert film. Rock.

Between putting out Wilco: I Am Trying To Break Your Heart and Pavement: Slow Century, Plexifilm’s got a nice little run going. Songs for Cassavetes is a decent little movie, although the sound on that DVD is just atrocious. I’m assuming that won’t be an issue on this one, as Mitchell will probably reverse his interview/concert ratio compared to Cassavetes. Hopefully. I love concert videos (even horribly recorded ones that you buy off EBay) and it’d be nice to see properly done multiple angle shows for acts that aren’t necessarily as big as Springsteen.
