Winnie Cooper, from the Wonder Years gives math advice. Danica McKeller just got her degree in mathematics from UCLA and is shelling out advice to young people. I wish she would’ve done this back when I was flunking out of Calculus my sophomore year at UCLA.
I was actually in the same class with her. I think it was Oceanography or some other silly general education requirement that I had to take, and we were in the same lab. Of course, I was there trying to finish the lab and get out as fast as humanly possible. She was clearly one of the “smart kids,” sitting in the front and constantly asking questions of the T.A. Trying to actually learn or what not. It was really annoying.
Still, she’s clearly smarter than I am. Or at least better at math (I’m horrible at math).

When I was an undergrad at UCLA, one of the highlights of my day was always a comic strip by the name of Sinfest. Back then it was the only thing worth reading in the Daily Bruin, and after it ended the Bruin was rendered completely worthless.
On a hunch, I punched it up in Google and found that it’s now online in a slightly different form. There’s no longer any campus humor in it, but it’s still really funny, and Tatsuya Ishida’s art is considerably more polished and expressive. My fave character is God, portrayed by a disembodied hand amongst the clouds. God is especially funny when he uses hand puppets. I’m serious. The whole strip is a bit offensive, but it’s funny and smart in ways that most syndicated strips just aren’t anymore.
Slick and Monique are my new best friends. I recommend going to the first cartoon and reading all of them in sequence. I finished them all in one afternoon killing time at work.

Look out Nostradamus, someone’s gunning for your crown. Morrissey predicted Princess Diana’s death, eleven years prior to it actually happening.
I really, really hope this is a joke. I’m scared to say that I don’t think it is. Of course, some people believe that Pink Floyd wrote Dark Side as a score to the Wizard of Oz.
Synchronicity strikes again. Does that mean the Police predicted this blog 14 years ago?
Nah, couldn’t be.
